Trusted Local Concrete Professionals in Clayton
Clayton is about 45 minutes from our base in Wilson, and most of what we do there is newer-construction work: patios and extensions in Flowers Plantation and Glen Laurel, driveway widenings and turnarounds along the 42 corridor, and slab work for additions, shops and outbuildings on the bigger lots out toward Archer Lodge.
Concrete for Clayton's newer neighborhoods and older core
Clayton has grown faster than almost anywhere else in the region, and that shows up in the concrete. Most of the houses in Flowers Plantation, Glen Laurel, Legend Oaks and along 42 are less than twenty five years old, which means the slabs are not worn out. What they are is thin and poured on graded fill, so the calls we get are settlement, cracking at the apron, and patios that were never big enough.
Downtown Clayton and East Clayton are the other half. Older houses, older concrete, mature trees lifting walks, and drives that were poured for a single car in an era before anyone parked a work truck at the house. Those jobs are tear out, root work and a rebuilt base.

What we get called for most in Clayton
Settlement in graded subdivision fill
Getting level building pads out of rolling Johnston County land took a lot of cut and fill, and in the fast-built neighborhoods that fill was not always placed in compacted lifts. Driveways and patios poured on it drop at a corner or along a wheel track within a few years. We dig through it and rebuild with compacted stone instead of pouring back onto the same problem.
Builder-grade driveways too thin for the load
A lot of production-built driveways here are four inches with light mesh or none, which is fine for two sedans and not fine for a work truck, an RV or a boat trailer. The tell is a crack pattern that follows the tire path, or a sunken section at the street apron. Replacement goes in at five inches with steel sized to what actually parks there.
Drainage graded for the subdivision, not your lot
On tight modern lots the water from your roof, your neighbor's roof and the street all has to move through a narrow side yard. Patios and walks poured without accounting for that end up as dams, and the water backs up toward the foundation. We set the pitch and, where needed, add a drain as part of the job.
What the ground and the weather do to concrete here
These are the four things that decide how we build a slab in Clayton. Figures are typical for the area and are confirmed on site before we quote.
The town we are pouring in
Clayton went from a small Johnston County town to one of the fastest growing places in North Carolina in about two decades. Downtown still reads like the original town, but everything east along 42, through Flowers Plantation and out toward Archer Lodge, is new build on land that was farm and woods within living memory.
That growth is why the ground matters here. Clayton sits where the piedmont clay starts giving way to coastal plain sand, and the pads under those new neighborhoods were cut and filled to make them work. Two lots on the same street can behave differently, so we check rather than assume.
The lots also drive what people want. Clayton yards tend to be usable and the houses are new enough that the concrete is not the problem, so a lot of our work here is adding: bigger patios, outdoor kitchens and firepit pads, wider driveways, and slabs for detached shops and garages.
