Trusted Local Concrete Professionals in Zebulon
Zebulon is about 35 minutes from our base in Wilson, straight down 264. It is one of the closest Wake County towns to us, and we work there often: replacement drives and walks in the older streets around Arendell, patios and slab work in the newer subdivisions along the 64 corridor, and pads and approaches for the commercial and light industrial sites on the east side of town.
Concrete work in Zebulon, from Arendell Avenue out to the 64 corridor
Zebulon has two ages of concrete. The older town, around Arendell Avenue, Gill Street and the Wakelon blocks, has original walks, porch slabs and narrow drives that were poured thin without steel or base. They have done long service and most of them are past repair.
Then there is everything built since 64 was improved. New subdivisions on graded pads, builder-grade driveways at four inches, and tight lots where the drainage was planned for the whole neighborhood rather than for your yard. The calls we get there are settlement, cracking in the tire path, and patios that need to be bigger and pitched better than what came with the house.

What we get called for most in Zebulon
Settlement in newer graded pads
Level building pads in this part of Wake County took cut and fill, and where that fill was not placed in compacted lifts it keeps consolidating under load. Driveways and patios poured on it drop at a corner or along the wheel path a few years in. We excavate through the soft material and rebuild with compacted stone rather than pouring back onto it.
Original town slabs breaking up
Around Arendell and the older residential grid, the concrete is thin, unreinforced and sitting on dirt. Decades of freeze nights and de-icer have taken the surface off, and once the aggregate is exposed there is nothing left to bond a repair to. Those jobs are tear out, base and repour.
Water with nowhere to go on tight lots
On the newer, narrower lots, roof water from two houses and street runoff all funnel through one side yard. A patio or walk poured without accounting for that acts as a dam and backs water toward the foundation. We set the pitch to move it and add a drain where the grade cannot carry it.
What the ground and the weather do to concrete here
These are the four things that decide how we build a slab in Zebulon. Figures are typical for the area and are confirmed on site before we quote.
The town we are pouring in
Zebulon sits at the eastern edge of Wake County, which makes it the closest thing to a shared town between the Triangle and our part of Eastern North Carolina. Downtown still has the scale of the original railroad and tobacco town, while the subdivisions off 64 belong to the Raleigh commute.
The soil reflects that position too. Zebulon is right about where piedmont clay gives way to coastal plain sand, and a single street can cross both. Clay swells and shrinks with moisture, sand washes. We check which one is under your slab before quoting, because the base work is different.
Little River and the low ground around it matter on some addresses. Anything near the river bottom or the old creek drainages has a higher water table and softer subgrade than the ground up on the ridge, and that changes excavation depth and sometimes slab thickness.
